FULL LINE-UP DETAILS OF CZAR FEST Featuring CONAN and DALEK

CZAR FEST 2019 / CZAR FEST WARM UP SHOW / Artwork & Info

What was originally organized as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Basel based label Czar Of Crickets Productions, is now happening for the fourth time and occupies the premises of the barracks in this edition for two days with rich guitar sounds of the brand Rock, Metal & Experimental.

For the first time in the history of the Czar Fest, the doors are opening up to international bands as well. Friday night's doom barbarians Conan from Northwest England will headline the Friday night, while NNRA from Paris will open Saturday in the Reithalle with instrumentally sludgy post-metal and dark visuals. The legendary Young Gods, pioneers of industrial punk, contemporary witnesses of the 90s indie and later scouts of early 2000s elektronika, are confirmed to headline the second Czar Fest day, where they are going to present their new album to the Basel audience for the first time.

The musically open and non-commercial ideology of Czar of Crickets is also reflected in the remainder of the line-up, which features dark folk songs (Songs For An Eye), cinematic post-rock (Kranes), black metal (Thron), post-metal (Unhold) and psychedelic blues (Sons Of Morpheus) is pervaded. Saturday, with Orso's instrumental metal and Combineharvester's drony art noise, delivers a guitar-enshrined, somber-gloomy continuity.

As every year, the concerts are flanked by the in-house Rock Art Exhibition, which casts the Rossstall II in a unique DIY atmosphere with illustrations, sculptures, merchandise and live performances. The central exhibit is "The Kurt Spoon", Kurt Cobain's controversial heroin spoon, which was made available to the exhibition for preventive purposes. On both evenings DJ Birdmask (Manuel from Zeal & Ardor) will be responsible for the perfect ending on the turntable.

Also on Friday the week before, the Czar Fest Warm Up Show will be held in the Sommercasino, featuring the psych-hip-hop legend "Dälek", Johny Holiday (Future Beats, Instrumental Hip-Hop) and the Czar Of Crickets owner who will hit the turntables as DJ Copkiller (from old school hip-hop to metal).
