Review

Low Tide Riders new EP Wicked is a proper little rocker that blends Stoner Rock, Desert Rock, Hard Rock and 70’s Classic Rock attitude. Throw in a little Punk Rock mentality and this band sounds quite different from the usual bands that the South American and Brazilian Stoner Rock scene normally offers. The EP is a very rough and ready affair with not much modern day studio production values being used and that’s a good thing. As Wicked lets you focus on hearing the actual music from the band.

Quirky and offbeat but all done in the best Stoner Rock way especially on the excellent opening songs Stand Up Or Rise Up and Runaround. The music feels modernly grounded despite the 70’s Hard Rock attitude the band use here within the Punk based guitars. The Desert/Stoner Rock flavour is definitely from the classic heyday of 90’s based sounds.

There are parts with the vocals that sound like they’re going to break out into harsher and more violent growls but they stay within the remit of Hard Rock and Stoner Rock. The remaining two tracks Above The Storm and Wicked are more adventurous though still sounding quite similar to the opening tracks with Wicked being the standout song on the EP.

Low Tide Riders are another cool band to discover from the Brazilian Stoner Rock scene and Wicked ends up becoming a highly addictive and rebellious release you can easily lose yourself in.
