What is the name of your band?
The name of this band is Modern Stars (cit.)
What is the genre of music that you play?
Something that incorporates elements from shoegaze, psych rock, blues, indian ragas, techno and gregorian music, that cannot be easily defined. We tried to synthesize it as Psych-Industrial and we aim at sounding original as far as we can. On BandCamp, which is our main target to diffuse our music, we have chosen to be neo-psych or neo-psychedelic, as you want to type it.
Can you give a brief history of the band of how it came together and where it is today?
The band started as a three piece band (Andrea Merolle, Andrea Sperduti, Barbara Margani) in Andrea and Barbara’s home studio (the Velvet Cave).
Then it found its complete dimension for studio works, with the help of Filippo Strang (VDSS Recording Studio), and for live gigs, as a six elements band thanks to wonderful friends and musicians (Mario Bruni on bass, Berry Margani on guitar and Simone Viscogliosi on electronics).
Today we reached a distinctive sound both in studio and live, even if it is always evolving.
We are proud that any album sounds slightly different from the other, you may hear a clear connection between them as a whole and there is a certain inner cohesiveness in each chapter of the saga.
