Introduce Yourselves: COLOUR

What is the name of your band?

Colour

What is the genre of music that you play?

Hard-rock / Doom / Prog Rock

Can you give a brief history of the band of how it came together and where it is today?

Man, it's been a long road of just figuring out our style and how to go about being a band. There were a couple of proto-Colour bands that fell apart before Colour was a thing. Out of these bands, Colour grew through guitarist Tim Wuyts and bassist Thomas Segaert. The whole point of the band is to be a kind of "outsider art" band. We take inspiration from other bands, but we've never tried going for a specific style in order to be picked up by the scene of a specific sub-genre. Sounds based, maybe, but we've always been too sludgy and riff-y to fit into the prog scene, but too far out and experimental for the DOOM scene. Result:

We don't seem to fit in anywhere We get it, there's no highways to places no one has ever been, so we have to pave our own road! To that end, we've set up a yearly festival named "Colourfest" for other bands that don't fit in. Furthermore, instead of hoping for label support we just do everything ourselves: recording, mixing, mastering, artwork, ... All this barely scratches the surface of all of the lessons we've learned and all the things we've been up to the past year, but that's pretty much the general vibe of our past.

These days we've found our footing with the upcoming release of the second Colour album named "the Traveller", which will be released on March 7th. Now we're focusing on consistency, recording regularly, given potential fans something to sink their teeth into. Whatever happens, Colour will keep going!

What can people expect from your music?

A no-bad-ideas attitude atop a foundation of dope shit, good grooves, good sounds. It may take a couple listens to really get into it, but when you're at that point, you realize there's no other band like Colour, and no substitute for it either.

What is the best release that folks should check out from your band?

The upcoming album named the Traveller, which will be released on March 7th

Where can people find you on Social Media?

Doom/Stoner Metallers HEXJAKT Announce Details Of Forthcoming Debut Album BLESSING OF THE DAMNED

On December 1st, 2025, Doom/Stoner Metallers HEXJACKT will release release first full-length album “Blessing of the Damned.”

Blessing of the Damned is a collection of our darkest and most conceptually charged songs to date. The title captures the album’s core theme: the contrast between damnation and redemption, light and darkness.

The music unfolds in a landscape of crushing, slow-paced riffs, murky atmospheres, and lyrics evoking ritual ecstasy, defiance, and resignation. It’s a journey beyond traditional boundaries, where the marginalized and forsaken are given a voice – and perhaps a kind of blessing in their downfall.

Blessing of the Damned is no salvation. It is a curse you choose to carry.

Members

Hampus Henningsson - Guitar/Vocals (ex. Signo Rojo)
Toni Åkerman - Bass/Vocals - (Cibola, ex. L.A.D.)
Dan Nordin - Drums

Stoner Rockers ASTRAL KOMPAKT Announce New Album Goldader on Tonzonen Records.

Astral Kompakt carefully dissect the psych metal blueprint laid out by Sleep and Electric Wizard, slowing it down, spacing it out and abstracting its essence. Creating a new conversation in which heaviness is not a goal but a means to an end, Goldader, out November 22 via Tonzonen Records, perfects the art of making complexity comprehensible and sonic violence sophisticated.

Stoner rock leans heavily on its psychedelic imagery and lyrics for its allure, leaving a small number of artists capable of writing captivating instrumental music that still fits the bill. Where other acts turn to humorous tropes or excessive layers of fuzz, Germany-based instrumental outfit Astral Kompakt resort to reducing things to a minimum, keeping a tight formation as a trio. With their debut album Goldader they have perfected the art of making complexity comprehensible and sonic violence sophisticated.

Across its 40-minute long runtime Goldader reveals itself as a lexicon of anything prog and stoner, touching upon and playing with stylistic devices that also characterise the metal genre as a whole. From from the jagged start-stop riffing of Pirsch through the subtle polyrhythms of Welwitschie to the repeating motifs of Batavische Träne II, Astral Kompakt prove they understand the elements of the genre and know how to use them in refreshing ways.

The inconspicuous way in which they open the album in 10/8 but make it seem like the most normal stoner riff ever, attests to the ability of Astral Kompakt to make music that is both fun and engaging. The title track innovatively juxtaposes the summer vibes of indie rock with exuberant blast beats, while album closer Levitas skilfully anatomizes the art of melting face, creating an experience in which the real heaviness is found in the space between the distorted chords.

With Goldader Astral Kompakt have indeed struck gold, creating a record you can spend endless moments with, digging around and unearthing all its intricacies. The songwriting is serious but also has a sense of humour, the riffs are both brain-heavy and face-melting, while the album sounds phenomenal thanks to Jan Oberg at who recorded, produced and mixed the album at his Hidden Planet Studio in Berlin.

Astral Kompakt Goldader is out November 22, 2024 on Tonzonen Records. It can be pre-ordered on limited edition vinyl here: https://www.tonzonen.de/shop/p/astral-kompakt-presale-061024-

Details About Doom Metallers COBRANOID Upcoming Debut Album

Cobranoid has their first album coming out on Friday August 16th 2024 and I am so stoked for these guys. A hard-working Denver band, they have been honing their songwriting and performance skills for the last few years on the excellent Denver Stoner Doom scene, making a name for themselves and making new fans each time they hit the stage. I've seen Cobranoid quite a few times over the last few years. These guys always bring so much energy to their live performances. They are a straight forward, hard rocking, speed doom (their term) metal-as-fuck band. a powerful power trio, they literally make you feel the rock pounding through your chest when you're in the crowd. Now, finally, they have brought this powerful mix to the studio. Turn this up and check out some Cobranoid!

Cobranoid is Kyle McKeeman (vocals, guitar) Logan O'Connor on bass and Kevin Wylie on drums. These guys generously shared 3 tracks from their upcoming album and damn, all three are absolute high energy rippers. Here's my thoughts on the tracks:

NES. I'm immediately thinking damn. Heavy as FUCK. Kyle's vocals are raw and this song was recorded with a lot of intense energy. It starts off with a punch before a quick descent into heartfelt guitar riff and followed with sorrowful feeling harsh vocals. This song feels wonderfully dramatic and would perhaps be the epitome of what Cobranoid means by calling themselves "Speed Doom". Great heavy tone. Doomy but not oppressive. the drums are sharp and I like where they sit in the mix, providing excellent depth to this track in particular. it's a ripper, a super fun ride!

Flesh and Bone is the first single that has been released. Speed doom indeed! Crunchy guitars, pounding drums and deep bass propelled by semi growly vocals. Flesh and Bone is super hard driving, crushing METAL. This song is seriously metal as fuck, with a growl along chorus, headbanging riffs and guttural deep fills from both guitar and drums. Like so many great songs in this genre, Flesh and Bone gives one that Mad Max apocalyptic feel...more Road Warrior than Furiosa, this is gritty number and has a flashbacky, sepia toned feel to it. It's hot and raw and gritty.

Cobranoid describes themselves as Speed Doom and it's fitting. Their sound is reminiscent of High on Fire; Cobranoid blazes a galloping trail of riffs, charging forward straight into the void. The introspective interlude shows some maturing songwriting skills an adds inserting drama to what is a already complex track. There is story telling amongst the heavy riffs and this is a moody, horror driven doom song. Faster riffs kick in at the end of Flesh, the speed in speed doom prevailing as the song breaks from the darkness and runs off into a more trashy riff driven finale. It's a pretty amazing 6 minutes, seeming both longer and shorter than that time - in a way that makes me want to put it on repeat.

The last track I got to hear was Hyena. Hyena howls, mofos! It's a hard, straight up kick-your-ass rocker here y'all. I love the heavy heavy kick ass drumming on this one. Kyle's galloping guitars and bass and tough sounding vocals once again set a hard rocking tone. This stuff right here is battle jackets and engineer boots my friends. This is hard Denver rock that doesn't fuck around. Consider doing some yoga neck stretches before this little ditty cause your head with be rocking. Kyle's guitar tone hear is amazing. The recording captures the intensity of the amplification, and is mixed very well, showcasing all the players and placing the vocals in the proper place in the presentation.

This band has just gotten better and better since I saw them a few years ago. The first time I saw Cobranoid live they played a dirty version of Just Got Paid Today (ZZ Top). They reminded me of Wo Fat a little bit. Maybe I just felt like that after hearing them cover that song and it skewed my perception. These songs sound different in a great way. More thrashy and traditionally metal than I remember seeing them (just my opinion of course) and I love it. These songs are rippers, and I encourage everyone to check out the new single and definitely get this album on pre-order.

Doom Metallers Warpriest Release New Song/Video For Dogs of Doom Video From Upcoming New Album Gloombreaker

Warpriest is releasing their third album, “Gloombreaker” on September 13th. Like the previous two, this album features seven heavy tracks of traditional doom clocking in at 51 minutes, with male and female vocals. We are also releasing the first video, “Dogs of Doom” on August 4th (why August 4th? Because the tritone is also known as an Augmented 4th! \m/)

This album delves into the darkness of the emotions of fear, sadness, depression, anger, selfishness, and of course … death.

This album took us two years to get done as we struggled with a lot of personal demons, death and depression ourselves, but we are excited to see it finally be birthed into the light of day. In the meantime we’ve kept busy with the release of three singles (Curse of the Living Dead, The Haunting: a Ghost Story & In a Land Without a Sun), two Christmas songs and raised money for Mental Health in the month of May.

Warpriest are a husband and wife duo from the North Georgia mountains. We play traditional doom music in the vein of Black Sabbath (cliché?), Witch Mountain, Orchid, The Skull, and a touch of Avatarium. Both of us handle vocal duties. We’re like the Sonny and Cher of the doom world.

Gigantum, the innovative hard rock band from Los Angeles, USA continues to experiment with the genre norms as they release their second single “Necron99” from their upcoming self-titled debut album slated to hit online retailers on September 6, 2024. Following the successful launch of the single “Monkey King” last month, this new track delves deeper into the band’s eclectic influences and creative synergy, offering fans another taste of what’s to come.

Vocalist/bassist Mia X comments on the single:

“A lot of the songs are about conversations that we have at practice. Necron99 came about when Mark told us about this movie he was really into and wanted us to check out called, WIZARDS. After watching it, I went down a rabbit hole to learn more and when he started playing the riff that is now Necron99, I started thinking about the importance of what the movie was portraying.”

“Necron99” has a very heavy, doomy industrial feel that takes the listener into darkness. Gigantum works collaboratively, coming up with riffs that bounce off each other, and in each track, the different ideas and musical influences of the musicians can shine through. The result is an EP that is as complex as it is compelling, offering listeners a glimpse into the band's creative process.

“Necron99” could be considered the modern-day “War Pigs” and is recommended for fans of Fu Manchu, Mastodon, and Red Fang.

Watch and listen to the lyric video for “Necron99” via its premiere below thanks to the cool folks over at Asher Media PR

Psych Stoner Rockers ANANDA MIDA Premiere New Song/Video THE MEDICINE MAN IS LOOKING FOR A CURE From Upcoming New Album - LIVE AT DUNA JAM

Ananda Mida is a stoner and psychedelic rock music collective led by Max Ear (OJM’s drummer and Go Down Records’ Art Director) and Matteo Pablo Scolaro. From the very beginning of the project, graphic imagery has been given a crucial role thanks to the precious collaboration with the visual artist Eeviac. Since 2015, they have been performing with different lineups, from three to six members, either instrumental or featuring singers.

Their sound is inspired by seventies rock, mixed with desert and psychedelic grooves.

In 2015, they debuted with the double A-sided 7-inch Aktavas/Passavas, which gave rise to the band’s mythology, elaborated from some fragments of enigmatic teachings. In Fall 2016 they released their first full-length, co-produced by Go Down Records and Vincebus Eruptum Recordings. Anodnatius is its name and it reminds us of all the positive forces and slight vibrations settled inside and outside everything and everyone. In January 2019, the second chapter Cathodnatius was published, depicting all the opposing forces and obscure vibes we live in today.

This record featured Conny Ochs on vocals, and dropped via Go Down and Vincebus Eruptum on vinyl, CD, and digital. In June 2021, the band put out the live EP called Karnak on a deluxe picture-back disc, featuring a special appearance by Desert Rock icon Mario Lalli on guitar. November 2023 has seen the release of their third work Reconciler, which has “mythologically” completed the trilogy. The album evokes the resolution of the contrast between those opposing forces, sung in the previous chapters. As the title states, it’s a hymn to reconciliation and drops via Go Down Records on double LP, double CD, and digital.

Next release is scheduled for July 2024, out for the mighty Heavy Psych Sounds Records, by publishing their live exhibition at last Duna Jam.

Ananda Mida performed throughout Europe, supporting bands like BRMC, Black Mountain, Colour Haze, Fatso Jetson, Yawning Man, The Atomic Bitchwax, Nebula, and White Hills.

We're excited to premeire the new song The Medicine Man Is Looking For A New Cure thanks to the cool folks over at Purple Sage PR and Heavy Psych Sounds.

The band say this about the upcoming new album:

"On Tuesday, June 20, 2023, we had the pleasure of playing a live concert for the audience of Duna Jam while the sun was setting on the beach and heat waves and sandstorms were rising from the Sahara in the west. It was an unforgettable concert for us, which had a profound emotional impact, as the situation and the atmosphere "crystallized" in their own space-time, so to speak. Thank you"

Doom/Sludge/Metal Outfit EARTH SHIP Announces New Album "Soar"; The Band's Sixth Full-Length to See Release August 9th on THE LASTING DOSE RECORDS

EARTH SHIP: Berlin Based Doom/Sludge/Metal Outfit Announces New Album "Soar"; The Band's Sixth Full-Length to See Release August 9th on THE LASTING DOSE RECORDS. FFO: Melvins, Mastodon, Crowbar, Celtic Frost. Pre-order HERE.

Soar will be available on CD, vinyl and digitally on August 9, 2024.

Comments the band: "A phantasmagorical exploration of fever dreams and twilight states, Soars is a psychotronic collection of swaggering rhythms and dazzling textures. EARTH SHIP uncover a world in which every extended riff is journey into trance Atlantis, where your mind is immersed in hazy lofi-lullabies and heavy retro sounds."

After 6 years of silence, sludge/doom trio EARTH SHIP make an unexpected return with their sixth album Soar. A phantasmagorical exploration of fever dreams and twilight states, Soars is a psychotronic collection of swaggering rhythms and dazzling textures. Plowing their way through eight long form tracks, EARTH SHIP uncover a world in which every extended riff is a journey into trance Atlantis, where your mind is immersed in hazy lofi-lullabies and heavy retro sounds.

Born in 2010 from the mother lode of the German sludge metal scene, EARTH SHIP emerged as one of the most relentless and heavy-hitting live bands of the European mainland. Consisting of heavy power couple Jan and Sabine Oberg (who also play together in GRIN and Slowshine) and a rotating cast of drummers, EARTH SHIP have played with many renowned acts such as Voivod, Red Fang, Crowbar and Amenra.

On Soar the two are joined by Slowshine-drummer André Klein (The Smokin ’44’s) whose no frills playing forms the perfect backdrop for the duo’s gut-wrenching riffage. Wandering along the steady rhythm of the drums, your mind is warmly held by deep bass tones and slowly engulfed by hazy lullabies of earth-toned guitars and vocals. EARTH SHIP color their world in Jan Oberg’s characteristic lo-fi sound, being recorded, as is tradition, by him in his own Hidden Planet Studio.

These songs are a testament to his 18 year-long experience as one of Germany’s most prolific producers in sludge metal, having released many pristine sounding records with his own bands GRIN and Slowshine, but also via his label The Lasting Dose Records. Jan knows how to render a metal band’s sound with incredible attention to detail but without unnecessary polish and this album is no exception to his indelible ethos.

With Soar the characteristic EARTH SHIP-sound is lifted to new heights. From the shifting time-signatures of album opener Shallow to the lovely old-school vibes of Daze and Delights, Soars is a literal delight to listen to for fans of slow and heavy with a good sound system. A mighty recommendation for doom metal aficionados with an ear for detail and a delicate nose for quality riffs!
