Review

Stoned Space are a Psychedelic/Desert Rock/Stoner Rock band fuelled by COSMIC sounds and inspired by bands such as Karma To Burn, Yawning Man and Earthless with a first rate Space Rock groove hidden amongst the classic Desert/Stoner Rock style that appears throughout their excellent debut album I.

The record is quite short lasting around thirty minutes in length but there’s a wealth of sublime trippy instrumental jams which have a cool sounding “LO-FI” element to them. The music can be quite HEAVY and DOOM based when it needs to be but for the most part Stoned Space play a mid level style for aggression and volume. The space rock elements work superbly well even when the mood becomes dominated by synths and almost Cosmic Blues Rock swagger that appears within standout moments of II and III.

Stoned Space is a heavier unit on the later stages of the record with an album that has a diverse style of Instrumental Stoner Rock passages. The music can be quite condensed in places especially when Stoned Space strives for heavier areas of Rock & Roll music but overall this is a fabulous sounding album that’s quite BOLD when the band think outside of the box and play whatever comes to their creative minds.

The album could have done with a couple more tracks but overall, Stoned Space have delivered the goods here. The music is constantly engaging with the band allowing the listener to become part of their trippy and sometimes surreal HEAVY world.

Excellent and HIghly Recommended.
