The Lumberjack Feedback return with “Sword of the Sun”, a crushing new single-track digital EP

Argonauta Records proudly welcomes back French instrumental post-metal force The Lumberjack Feedback with “Sword of the Sun”, a new EP built around a single, monumental track, available exclusively in digital format.

Listen now: https://tidal.com/album/511312900/u

Designed as a focused and uncompromising sonic statement, “Sword of the Sun” pushes the band further into darker and heavier territories. Massive riffs, oppressive rhythms and relentless intensity drive a composition that unfolds like a slow, inevitable confrontation. Stripping away excess, the band channels everything into one powerful piece, delivering a short yet deeply impactful experience.

The EP embodies the idea of standing alone against adversity, where the “Sword of the Sun” becomes a symbol of raw strength and survival, cutting through chaos with determination.

This new release follows “The Stronghold”, released via Argonauta Records in April 2024, which showcased the band’s signature blend of crushing heaviness, dual drumming and hypnotic atmospheres, further establishing their place in the international post-metal scene.

Formed in France in 2008, The Lumberjack Feedback have built a strong identity through instrumental compositions that merge sludge, doom and post-rock influences into immersive and emotionally charged soundscapes.

GOZER ANNOUNCE NEW EP - 'THE PATH ALWAYS LEADS TO THE END' - RELEASED 3RD NOVEMBER / WATCH THE VIDEO FOR ‘CELESTIAL RIVER'

Revelling in a blend of atmospheric textures & powerful sludge riffs. After venturing through the vast scope of heavy music and experimenting with their sound, Gozer's vision was realised with the album 'AN ENDLESS STATIC' released in 2022.

Receiving praise from the likes of Metal Hammer, Metal Injection, Invisible Oranges and more for the album's dense sonic power, song structures and emotive depth.

GOZER are now set to release their continuation in the EP 'THE PATH ALWAYS LEADS TO THE END' building off the themes of mental health found throughout their first release this EP's subject puts more focus on passing on and with it the unknown of what comes next.

"A Lot of us have our own notion of what comes after we pass, some people find comfort in the belief of some form of afterlife beyond what we could ever experience in this mortal coil, others may simply believe we return to the earth and the cycle of life continues. I’m still undecided about what happens once we breathe our last breath but I know that creating something with people means a great deal as all we truly leave once we are gone, are the people in our lives with who we shared our passions, successes, losses, joy and sadness but above all else our love.” - GOZER

The Path Always Leads To The End will be released on the 3rd of November. Recorded & mixed by Tj Fairfax and mastered by Magnus Lindberg.

'Celestial River’ is the first single to be shared from the EP with the band adding,

"Celestial River was one of the first tracks we wrote after finishing our album An Endless Static. Originally it was going to be instrumental, but Kez came with these great lyrics that summed up how life pushes you forward. There's always obsticals but if there's a way to embrace them we can hopefully be happier when we look back on our journey”.

Boisterous psych-prog act GONDHAWA to deliver peppy new video today; new EP "Mäanthagorī" out now via Stolen Body Records

Boisterous psych-prog act GONDHAWA to deliver peppy new video today; new EP "Mäanthagorī" out now via Stolen Body Records

Photo Matthias Eyer.

Amazing ethnic and futuristic psych-prog trio GONDHAWA open the doors to their boundless imagination by sharing their wacky and endearing new video. The footage reveals the two tracks of their new EP "Mäanthagorī" - out today through Stolen Body Records. Embark now on a journey to the planet Gondhawa, heading to "Go ! Go! Sinay" and "Toko Mieko"!

French psych-prog three-piece GONDHAWA are an eclectic sonic tumult that ignore geographical and genre limitations. Their imagination ends where the impossible begins! Straddling the line between psychedelic and progressive rock, they write songs in their very own language: Gondhawii. Lulled by science-fiction literature, Gondhawa's luminous and high-spirited universe rubs shoulders with afrobeat, oriental rhythms and the rock'n'roll frenzy. They unveil their new EP 'Mäanthagorī' in full thanks to an off-the-wall astounding new video directed by Matthias Eyer.

GONDHAWA's new EP 'Mäanthagorī' is a successful synthesis of revisited folk music and space rock. Hypnotic loops a la Moon Duo tickle with exuberant and futuristic ethnic elements. The two-track EP was recorded and mixed by Elliot & Stew at La Cuve studio (Angers, France) and mastered by Thibault Chaumont of Deviant Lab. Artwork by Léo Zedinn. The EP is coming out today.

Artwork by Leo Zedinn

GONDHAWA were born in 2018, following the musical wanderings of their three members who met a year before. Evolving in a garage rock direction until then, the three musicians from Angers, France, decided to break out of the mould and set off on a hallucinatory journey inspired by science fiction literature. From psychedelia to oriental music, passing through afrobeat and progressive rock, Gondhawa draw inspiration from all over the World. All of this converge towards an eclectic and singular musical universe, with lyrics written in their very own language : Gondhawii.

On stage, the power trio takes on a whole new dimension by introducing traditional Chinese instruments (sanxian), Malian instruments (n'goni) or a micro-tonal guitar, always seeking to expand their sound spectrum. Their performances are peppered with improvisations, immersing the audience into unique journeys around this rich blend of influences.

Gondhawa's debut album 'Käampâla' was released on October 2021 on Bristol-based record label Stolen Body (Yo No Se, Slift, Karkara, Bad Pelican). Through the micro-tonal groove of "Raba Dishka", the afrobeat stoner power of "Käampâla", or the softness of "Djoliko" - a beautiful ballad lulled by the melancholy of acoustic strings from all around the World - Gondhawa deliver the soundtrack of an interstellar road-movie. Six tracks of electric tornado with a bunch of rhythms and textures.
Gondhawa's new EP 'Mäanthagorī' arrives on November 25th 2022 through Stolen Body Records.

LINE-UP:

Idriss Besselievre: vocals, guitar, sanxian
Paul Adamczuk: bass
Clément Pineau: drums

Rosy Finch releases haunting video for their new single Purgatorio.

(Photographer - Pablo Ferao / Creative Madness Lab)

Atmosphere in music is the primordial ooze from which all sound must emerge, the glue that holds everything together whilst highlighting the sounds housed within. Spain’s Rosy Finch use every tool at their disposal to create an atmosphere that builds eerie shadows and ethereal darkness in which they brew a heady mix of sludge and stoner grooves and 90’s era alternative potency, escalated by overdriven guitars and passionate, unearthly vocals.

Purgatorio is the first single and video taken from the bands highly anticipated EP Seconda Morte, a moody, thrilling journey based on the poem The Divine Comedy, which releases on the 4th November 2022 via Lay Bare Recordings, Discos Macarras, and LaRubia Producciones.

“Purgatorio is the second part of the Dante’s The Divine Comedy and the first track on side two of the new album.” Says vocalist and guitarist Mireia Porto. She delves a little deeper into the meaning behind the song, "It’s about Dante's journey through Mount Purgatory, describing the climb to the seven terraces which all represent the seven deadly sins. The punished souls residing there are suffering and expecting to receive forgiveness and Dante believes their sins arise from love.”

The video was directed Mireia and shot by Marcos Bañó at Creative Madness Lab, as well in a mountainous red-sand desert, representing the Mount of Purgatory, where Dante is watching a sinner stuck on the terrace of the wrathful.

“For me, this is the most common sin: harm of others for not facing your own demons. If you’re trapped in a life full of pain caused by a perverted love, the violence will find you.” Comments Mireia.

About Rosy Finch

The trio burst onto the scene in 2013, founded by singer/guitarist Mireia Porto (who also later played with stoner doom phenoms, Hela). Having released two successful full-length albums and an EP, the line-up changed in 2019 during the recording of their barnstormer 2020 album, ‘Scarlet’. Óscar Soler (previously of space-rockers Pyramidal) and Juanjo Ufarte (from psychedelic doom merchants, Grajo) took over on bass and drums respectively, and a new day dawned in the Rosy Finch camp, one filled with heightened aggression and intent.

IN THE PONDS is David Perez (Guitar) and Jennifer Gigantino (Bass)

IN THE PONDS is what happens when a poet and a filmmaker get married and start an instrumental rock band during pandemic lockdowns and California wildfires. It’s when they spend their honeymoon in quarantine, staring at soot-filled skies wondering how to capture feelings of isolation, dread, and love without using words. The result is three EPs that pay homage to classic rock roots while experimenting with non-traditional song structures for a sound that’s both familiar and otherworldly.

Digital pre-orders have begun on Bandcamp for ‘Polar Night’.

Sludge Metallers GNASH Release Music Video for New Single "The Darker Half" Off Their Upcoming EP, Shared Nightmare

Sludge metal newcomers, GNASH, have released a music video for "The Darker Half", the first single from their upcoming debut EP, Shared Nightmare, which comes out on September 22nd.

Josh Richter of GNASH comments:

“I’ve never done a concept record before so I wanted to try to tell a story in great detail over an entire record rather than just one song. As dark and gruesome as the concept is, the underlying theme is the feeling of carrying around emotional baggage and trauma your whole life and the effects it takes on someone. Life is a heavy burden sometimes.”

Listen to “The Darker Half” below:

Formed this year in Columbus, Ohio, GNASH has already established a powerful and unique sound, drawing influence from the depth of death metal, the raw emotion of black metal, and heaviness of sludge metal, the band’s debut EP, Shared Nightmare, is a profound and thought-provoking insight into the darkest reaches of mental health issues.

Shared Nightmare tells a tale of conjoined twins, where one half of the pair dies. The remaining twin must continue on in life, carrying with him a corpse he can’t be rid of. The EP is an exploration of what it means to bear trauma and the toll it takes after a lifetime of being weighed down by such inescapable feelings.

Not for the faint of heart, prepare to be transported into a dark and chilling tale in GNASH’s debut EP, Shared Nightmare, coming September 22nd.

Ethan Martin - Bass

Desert/Stoner Rock Artist LAZER BEAM Announces Plans To Release 3 New EP's In 2022.

Desert/Stoner Rock Artist LAZER BEAM (Locust French) who gained acclaim from the underground scene with his 2021  self-titled release has this great announcement to make.

I will be releasing music for the remainder of this year in chapters. I tend to find myself sporadically writing and recording music, sometimes super heavy, sometimes super pop heavy, sometimes laid back, other times aggressive. At this time I find that I have amassed quite a large catalogue, but don't want to just drop 20 songs at once, I also don't want to split it into 2 albums, because by next year I feel it would be too long of a wait for fans.

So with that being said I've started to put together these EP's that kind of flow into each other, first I wanted to kick off my releases with a track called Nothing 2 Smoke. It didn't quite fit with the rest sonically, but I thought it would be a fun song to kick off the new music with. It comes out August 5th.

The Man In The House EP is a dingy and grimey 2am party starter with songs about going out drinking, roller skating, getting lost in the euphoria. But there always seems to be a dark turn. Man In The House comes out September 2nd.

The Lost In Oblivion EP is my collection of pop songs, structurally and melodically strong songs with themes of lost romance. Lost In Oblivion comes out September 30th.

The Derelict EP is a slower paced collection with more progressive type songwriting, including a guest appearance from singer PATRON on the title track Derelict. It includes a revision of a previously released song, and a cover of The Devil Makes 3's The Graveyard. Derelict comes out October 28th.

I'm very proud to share it with you all.

Background Info on the music and credits:

Most songs were recorded in my short bus (Ullyses) at the 300 level in Jerome, Arizona powered by a small inverter generator. If you listen closely you can hear the generator in the mix still which I thought was a fun easter egg type thing.

Artwork by Dylan Zon

Music was written and recorded and mixed by Lucust French, with mixes by Chris Hughes on tracks: Man In The House, Skate On By, Really Want You, Lower Your Guns, & Derelict.

Drums were recorded at Bird and Egg Studios in Richmond, CA.

Introduce Yourselves: THOT

What is the name of your band?

THOT

What is the genre of music that you play?

A fine blend of post-rock, industrial and punk.

Can you give a brief history of the band of how it came together and where it is today?

With a constantly evolving line-up, THOT has been active on the European music scene for more than 10 years. The gang is actually working on a new record, which will feature a collaboration with singers of polyphonic ensemble "The Mystery of The Bulgarian Voices".

What can people expect from your music?

Something between the dark haze of Neurosis and the dadaism of Throbbing Gristle, embracing the dark romanticism of Bauhaus, and venturing into the spiraling structures of Mars Volta.

What is the best release that folks should check out from your band?

Our album "FLEUVE" released in 2017, and our upcoming EP "Méandres":

Where can people find you on Social Media?

Info about upcoming EP Release - FLEUVE

Following their 2017’s release FLEUVE, Belgian post-rock/industrial collective THOT returns with MEANDRES, a 3 tracks EP written by the gang’s brain Gregoire Fray before the world froze in March 2020. These songs, which carry Fray’s obsession for electronic bass lines & heavy guitars, took the time required to reach their full potential and meet the listener.

EUPHRATE is the entrance gate. Not only to this EP but to all the music the band has been cooking for these past 2 years. Here Fray embraces his mother tongue. In French he leads the song through a sonic puzzle gradually joined by the haunting voice of vocalist Juliette Mauduit around whom singers of polyphonic choir The Mystery of The Bulgarian Voice gather in an epic and swirling ending. Here, lyrics are inspired by women fighting for their rights.

MURDOCK Releases new track “Vingança das Bruxas” and prepares the release of new EP

MURDOCK: heavy rock Brazilian quartet releases new track “Vingança das Bruxas” and prepares the release of new EP for August

Today the Brazilian band Murdock released their new single, the solid track "Vingança das Bruxas". Originally from Tijucas/SC the quartet mixes elements of Seventies Hard Rock, Stoner and Blues to produce their sound, and the new track efficiently captures the essence of their musicality with precise and dense riffs and great production.

About the song, declares the band:

Vingança das Bruxas” is the last track of our upcoming EP “Entre Tigres e Lobos” which will be released in August. The song brings all the weight and dark theme we've been looking for since the beginning of the band with long, melodic riffs inspired by the first albums of the bands Electric Wizard and Mephistopheles. The band sought to bring the roots from the beginning of the project, both in the composition and in the riffs and melodies, and tell a horror story with an epic ending where the Revenge of the Witches happens. This until then is the last song composed by the band, made to finish the EP. We are already thinking about the future of the band and starting new compositions with another kind of tuning for future projects”

Listen “Vingança das Bruxas”:

MURDOCK is:

Guilherme Sezoski – guitar and vox
Rafael Rau – guitar
Pholl Gregório – bass
Guilherme Franco – drums

Clocking in at twenty minutes, HOWLING GIANT's cosmic-bound instrumental EP 'Alteration' is the unexpected outcome of numerous lockdown streams on Twitch, with each one of its four song titles being curated by the fans. "During the full band shows we ask the viewers to call out song names, then we wrote instrumental jams on the spot to match the song title. After going back and reviewing some of these jams, we decided it would be fun to actually record some of them in a more professional setting", says the band. 'Alteration' will be released on April 20th, 2021 through Bandcamp, coming together with a special livestream going live release day at 4:20pm CST at this location.

Says drummer Zach Wheeler: "The inspiration for this song came from our Halloween stream where one of the Twitch chat participants suggested the title “Luring Alluring Rings.” We kept this one the most true to “jam-form” with a few tweaks to leave a little more room for Marshall to explore the space. With this being Marshall’s first release with the band, we wanted to showcase what he’s been working on since the start of the pandemic."

Bringing together their masterful psych-prog songcraft and sci-fi imagery to create an epic and awe-inspiring sound all of their own, HOWLING GIANT have become an essential act of the forward-thinking heavy rock scene, and the indefinite world hiatus and global pandemic won't certainly prevent them from moving onward and upward. The 'Alteration' EO follows on from their widely acclaimed 'Turned To Stoned Chapter 2' split with Sergeant Thunderhoof (Ripple Music) and their latest album 'The Space Between Worlds'.

Swedish doom metal juggernaut, MAMMOTH STORM, has announced to reissue their highly acclaimed debut EP, Rites Of Ascension, on Vinyl this April through Argonauta Records!

Weird Tales Announce Details Of New EP - "Y'all Motherfuckers Forgot 'Bout Good Ol' Son Of A Bitchin' Blues

Polish Psychedelic Doom act of three - Weird Tales thicken the plot of their tale with a brand new EP - "Y'all Motherfuckers Forgot 'Bout Good Ol' Son Of A Bitchin' Blues". Which, like everything else from this twisted trio, dares to go far outside the confines of what you would expect from a doom album. With this record, Weird Tales pays homage to the true founding fathers. Where it all began, the kings of blues! With out blues, there is no rock, with out rock there is no doom metal, and without doom metal, well, let's not even speculate where Weird Tales would be.

The concept of this album – pass the blues through the Weird Tales prism, twisting and bending it until it's barely recognizable. Catch the essence of each track, wrap it with our heavy riffs and extrapolate. The result? The heaviest blues album ever put forth!

The first single from the album - "Got The Blues For Murder Only" can be heard here:

Weird Tales adds: "How we are sick of covers! It's always the same, note by note covers, slowed down, tuned down – the DOOM covers. How we are bored by it! The only acceptable form of cover – is an abstract one. A new self-contained, original piece of music. Whole new riffs and arrangements, and still, it is a cover. It's bound to the original with it’s intention and message. The cover that is a rethinking of the original becoming it's evolution.

With this EP we're retelling with our own language the killer blues of four men.

Lonnie Johnson, Skip James, Blind Willie Johnson, Muddy Waters are the four motherfuckers who knew what’s this all about done way before you were born.

It is our vision of what is the most important in this blues. Our blues in 2020."

EP News - KUROKUMA Announce New EP Details

Trippy Metal Trio KUROKUMA Announce New EP Details

Sheffield’s Best Metal Bands Vol. 1 to be released via Off Me Nut Records May 3rd

Trippy metal trio KUROKUMA have announced their third EP Sheffield's Best Metal Bands Vol.1 will be released via Off Me Nut Records on May 3rd 2019 ahead of their appearance at Desertfest UK on May 5th.

Check out their teaser here:

Kurokuma - Sheffield’s Best Metal Bands Vol. 1

After earning acclaimed reviews for their Advorsus EP (2016) and Dope Rider EP (2018), KUROKUMA's cult-like notoriety for producing avant-garde music, heavy yet multidimensional, has continued to grow. Now, the band have teamed up with notorious electronic record label Off Me Nut Records for their latest release, which sees the label's first ever foray into the murky world of metal.

Sheffield’s Best Metal Bands Vol. 1 finds the band burrowing deeper into an atmospheric world of their own creation, producing four leviathan tracks that are a consciousness-expanding 24-minute refraction of monumentally unsettled ambient heaviness and blackened sludge. And there's even a Jamiroquai cover thrown in for good measure (Deeper Underground). This is some persuasively weird shit.

The band comments: "It's a product of being on the road a lot more this past year, seeing a lot of metal bands outside of just the stoner/doom circles, and then just bringing in a few influences from outside metal. We listen to things from all across the musical spectrum; lately it's been a lot of electronic music and beats, and that's nothing particularly unique, but we've never drawn lines between genres or been hesitant about bringing what we like to listen to into the band.

There's a darkness and an intensity that you might find in unexpected places if you're willing to look. Reality is twisted, you'll never escape it. We're taking the weird shit that flows through our brains and in front of our eyes, cranking the volume and putting it on cassette. And when we took a step back and looked at the lyrics and song titles on this release, we realised that, if you had to describe it, everything related to a theme of weird creatures that are misunderstood by society at large, which, to be honest, is a good way of summing up who we are.“

KUROKUMA recently gained further spotlight after being featured in The Doom Doc, an independent documentary on the doom scene which followed KUROKUMA's drummer, Joe E Allen, and featured interviews with original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, Primitive Man, Conan, Slabdragger, and many others.

Having perfected their engaging sound on stages worldwide from the UK to Japan with bands such as Conan, Crowbar, Trap Them, KEN Mode, Boss Keloid, Primitive Man and Skeletonwitch to name a few, the next few months will see the band playing select dates and festivals including Desertfest in London in support of their EP.

Sheffield’s Best Metal Bands Vol. 1 will be released by Off Me Nut Records on May 3rd. Pre-orders will be available soon.

See KUROKUMA live at one of the following dates:

News - EMBER announce 326: Spiritual Dialysis

EMBER announce 326: Spiritual Dialysis

Throughout 2018 Crystal and Eric Bigelow of EMBER have continued to write music. They have been consistently brainstorming and amassing ideas, arranging and writing despite being deprived of having a full consistent band. It’s been an emotional and trialing year with the loss of musicians, the diagnosis of Eric’s Kidney Disease and surgeries. Despite the trials and tribulations, they have managed to amass a plethora of new material.

Now, after a full year of absence and a full year since the release of 271, EMBER announce they have chosen a handful of songs that they will be recording in early February of 2019.
The upcoming EP is entitled 326: Spiritual Dialysis and is to be recorded by Matt Washburn (Mastodon, Leechmilk, Norma Jean, Royal Thunder) at Ledbelly sound in Dawsonville Ga. Eric and Crystal Bigelow’s new musical compositions are weighty, inspired, emotional, expressive and brooding.

They have created an exceptional landscape for Crystal’s well-known haunting vocals. They also have incorporated new elements to EMBER. Including (but not limited to) some menacing vocals laid down by Eric Bigelow.

The artwork and track listing for the EP 326: Spiritual Dialysis will be revealed January 2019. The EP will be released March of 2019 with a video soon after to follow the release.

All digital sales of the EP will go towards Eric Bigelow’s fund for Kidney transplantation.
