Desert Bloom PR, a brand new PR company introduces first client, California’s instrumental post-rock duo IN THE PONDS

Desert Bloom PR, a brand new PR company introduces first client, California’s instrumental post-rock duo IN THE PONDS

In The Ponds: For fans of: Earth, Grails, The Dead Weather, Cortége, Droneroom

San Jose-based instrumental post-rock duo IN THE PONDS will release their debut EP, Polar Night on October 19th, 2022 on ENTELODON RECORDS. Two additional EPs to follow in the coming months—together comprising a full length-worth of material. As the Polar Night release date edges closer, the band will present a video for the track “Lonesome George.”

IN THE PONDS is what happens when a poet and a filmmaker get married and start an instrumental rock band during pandemic lockdowns and California wildfires. It’s when they spend their honeymoon in quarantine, staring at soot-filled skies wondering how to capture feelings of isolation, dread, and love without using words. The result is three EPs that pay homage to classic rock roots while experimenting with non-traditional song structures for a sound that’s both familiar and otherworldly.

This husband-and-wife duo believes that rock should sound like a smoker's cough and taste like shoplifted bourbon. Their guitars move between patient, gravely rhythms and sharp, icy leads while their bass lines lay solid foundations that get nice and punchy when they need to. Atmospheric washes hint at the places where the couple feels most at home, like the Grand Canyon and the Mariana Trench.

It’s living in San Jose, CA with a black cat who sleeps inside speaker cabinets and leaps from impossible heights.

Polar Night and the EPs to follow—Fever Canyon and Last Stop Ranch—were recorded by guitarist David Perez and mixed by Art Bertik. The front cover artwork and the music video for “Lonesome George” were both created by bassist Jennifer Gigantino.

Desert/Stoner Rock Artist LAZER BEAM Announces Plans To Release 3 New EP's In 2022.

Desert/Stoner Rock Artist LAZER BEAM (Locust French) who gained acclaim from the underground scene with his 2021  self-titled release has this great announcement to make.

I will be releasing music for the remainder of this year in chapters. I tend to find myself sporadically writing and recording music, sometimes super heavy, sometimes super pop heavy, sometimes laid back, other times aggressive. At this time I find that I have amassed quite a large catalogue, but don't want to just drop 20 songs at once, I also don't want to split it into 2 albums, because by next year I feel it would be too long of a wait for fans.

So with that being said I've started to put together these EP's that kind of flow into each other, first I wanted to kick off my releases with a track called Nothing 2 Smoke. It didn't quite fit with the rest sonically, but I thought it would be a fun song to kick off the new music with. It comes out August 5th.

The Man In The House EP is a dingy and grimey 2am party starter with songs about going out drinking, roller skating, getting lost in the euphoria. But there always seems to be a dark turn. Man In The House comes out September 2nd.

The Lost In Oblivion EP is my collection of pop songs, structurally and melodically strong songs with themes of lost romance. Lost In Oblivion comes out September 30th.

The Derelict EP is a slower paced collection with more progressive type songwriting, including a guest appearance from singer PATRON on the title track Derelict. It includes a revision of a previously released song, and a cover of The Devil Makes 3's The Graveyard. Derelict comes out October 28th.

I'm very proud to share it with you all.

Background Info on the music and credits:

Most songs were recorded in my short bus (Ullyses) at the 300 level in Jerome, Arizona powered by a small inverter generator. If you listen closely you can hear the generator in the mix still which I thought was a fun easter egg type thing.

Artwork by Dylan Zon

Music was written and recorded and mixed by Lucust French, with mixes by Chris Hughes on tracks: Man In The House, Skate On By, Really Want You, Lower Your Guns, & Derelict.

Drums were recorded at Bird and Egg Studios in Richmond, CA.

Thanks to Locust for all of the details.

EARL OF HELL New EP Get Smoked To Be Released Via Slightly Fuzzed Records From April 29th, 2022 o Digital, 12” Vinyl

EARL OF HELL New EP Get Smoked To Be Released Via Slightly Fuzzed Records From April 29th, 2022 on Digital, 12” Vinyl

Serving up a sinister concoction of your favourite heavy rock genres, Scottish fuzz-rockers Earl Of Hell are hell-bent on igniting crowds and melting faces with fiery riffs, stimulating rock rhythms, and energetic stage antics. Deliberately designed to tempt your dark side, their riff-laden jams lurk comfortably alongside ominous lyrics and a notably ghoulish aesthetic. With songs influenced by a collective interest in classic hard rock, post punk, grunge, and the grimy melodrama of vintage horror, their work proudly bears a fun-loving yet macabre underbelly. Indeed, the band remarks–perhaps jokingly, perhaps not–that their music could serve as the soundtrack to a low budget grindhouse movie. Their characteristic brand of horror-infused rock aside, acolytes of Black Sabbath, Kyuss, The Stooges, and Motörhead will undoubtedly find something worth sinking their teeth into.

On their debut EP Get Smoked, out April 29th via Slightly Fuzzed Records, Earl of Hell demonstrates an ability to write both jammed-out fuzz rock improvisations and short and catchy singles. With songs ranging from just over two minutes to just shy of six, the forthcoming Get Smoked is a collection of fiery riff-laden rock numbers. Featuring clean and growled vocals, a hefty low end, hard-hitting drums, and some tastefully spooky church organ, this project also features a string orchestra piece, as well as the performance of an ancient Galiçian spell. As Get Smoked is Earl of Hell’s first proper release, the band strove to present songs that mesh in terms of sound and direction. Although each track is inherently unique from a sonic perspective, a recurring theme of death runs through the EP, and the title and artwork tie the package together with light-hearted spirit.

Despite their initial year's absence of live shows, the band have quickly kindled the flame, recording their first single “Blood Disco” in April 2021 and their second release “Arrhythmia” soon after. With restrictions finally eased, the band has gigged relentlessly across the North of Britain, cutting their teeth as a must see live act and gathering an ever-growing fanbase. With a conflagrant reputation, and various UK support slots lined up in 2022, you’ll be wise to seize the next available opportunity to see Earl Of Hell in their current untamed infancy. Bottom line? Prepare to get smoked.

Get Smoked Tracklist:

1. Hang ‘em High
2. Parasite
3. I Am The Chill
4. Bitter Fruits
5. Blood Disco
6. Kill The Witch

TENEBRA SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘CRACKED PATH’ FROM NEW EP OUT FRIDAY VIA NEW HEAVY SOUNDS

TENEBRA SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘CRACKED PATH’

TAKEN FROM NEW EP OUT THIS FRIDAY ON NEW HEAVY SOUNDS

New Heavy Sounds is extremely stoked to bring you the latest installment in their 10th Anniversary EP series, and they are doubly proud to introduce their new signings TENEBRA.

TENEBRA are a four-piece from Bologna, Italy, and they are a hard and heavy stoner rock powerhouse, fronted by a seriously formidable singer, so it’s no wonder that these guys (and girl) had already begun making waves in Italy and beyond with their self-released first album ‘GEN NERO’ before NHS got to hear about them.

Formed in October 2017, Claudio (bass), Emilio (guitar) and Mesca (drums) came from the hardcore and post-hardcore scene (Settlefish, Assumption, Horror Vacui and ED) which gravitated around the "Atlantide" squat in Bologna, whereas vocalist Silvia is steeped in the underground rock of the '60s and' 70s.

Together they create music that is not only the sum of their influences but pushes those influences outwards, adding odd tempo changes and nods towards Misfits, June of 44 and Love Battery into their strange brew. They say …

“We love rock like it used to be but try to make it speak our language.”

And that they most certainly do as ‘What We Do Is Sacred’ testifies.

‘Cracked Path’ is all organic 70’s proto metal with keen song writing and a contemporary edge. Full on fuzz with the psych grunge of the 90’s underground, it’s Screaming Trees meets Fu Manchu, and it must be said that the vocals are truly storming. Silvia has one helluva voice, laced with whiskey, smoke, grit and late nights, think Maggie Bell or Olivia Favela from Birtha meets Betty Davis and you'll be in the right ballpark. It has light and shade and perfectly lands the TENEBRA vibe.

Listen to ‘Cracked Path’ now: https://tenebra666.bandcamp.com/album/what-we-do-is-sacred

‘Hard Luck’ is a chugging, pounding ride down the highway to hell with Silvia’s bluesy wail destroying all before it, complete with a psychedelic wall of guitars and melodies a plenty.

Finally you get ‘Primitive Man’ a cover from the first and self-titled Jerusalem album released in 1972. However TENEBRAclaim this song as their own, the proto metal riffs are all there, the vocals are blues wailingly epic and just to mix it up there’s a cool middle section complete with flute solo.

‘What We Do Is Sacred’ is a 3-song statement of intent that is not only a great listen but sets the tone for their second full length in 2022.

So, if you dig Sabbath or Kyuss or Green Lung and like your stoner rock hard and heavy, occult tinged with a psychedelic edge, then this is the band for you.

The EP is set to land on November 12th and is available on all digital platforms. There will also be a very limited edition CD available as part of New Heavy Sounds’ 10th Anniversary EP series. Housed in a bespoke die cut sleeve and limited to just 150 copies.

Sofie Jell Release New EP - "Beauty Lies in the Eyes Pt.2”

Sharped, intense, energetic. The sonority presented by the Brazilian band Sofie Jell combines all these requirements, and in last Friday (24) we checked more of this intense mix with their new work, the EP “Beauty Lies in the Eyes Pt.2”, released by the label Banana Atômica.

Continuing the EP “Beauty Lies in the Eyes Pt.1” released in 2018 by the quartet from the city of Feira de Santana the group brings us once again their intense and exciting Grunge sound with elements of Alternative Rock and even Stoner, distilling an powerful and “sticky” heavy rock.

Created in 2017 and inspired by the likes of Helmet, Soundgarden, Silverchair and Queens of the Stone Age, Sofie Jell has been climbing several levels in rapid rise, delivering a mature and well-produced sound, with admirable composition levels and organic reverence for icons of the approaching strands.

Having participated in recognized festivals in Bahia such as Feira Noise (participating in three editions) and the 2021 edition of Dopesmoke Festival, the band composed by Lucas Laudano (vocals and guitar), Leonardo Guimarães (drums) Bruno Mendes (bass) and Marquinhos Menezes (guitar) delivers right away his inspirations in the six tracks, presenting with "Beauty Lies in the Eyes Pt.2" another round of these magnetic tracks and nineties influences, led by the single "Overrated" and evoking the most iconic and representative of the 90s in an honest and inspired way, a whole world for Grunge-addicted listeners

“Beauty Lies in the Eyes” was produced by the band and Vicente Fonseca, recorded at Estúdio do Beco in Salvador/Bahia, and is available on streaming below:
