Review

Doom/Groove/Stoner Rockers and Party Monsters Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol return with their new album Big Dumb Riffs and that’s what the album delivers but with a supreme silly style of frantic aggressive entertainment. Channelling the off-kilter energy of PRIMUS and Dinosaur JR and matching with the Heavy Metal energy of PANTERA and the classic grooves of ZZ Top for a record that has a buoyant Sludge Rock and Punk Rock attitude.

The majority of the tracks last around the two minutes mark with this being a very short album which is part of the course for Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol. There is a sublime 90’s Alt Rock appetite and Funk Rock energy which you can feel on the opening tracks such as Clowntown, 1-800-Eat-Shit and Papa Pop It.

The band perhaps rely on shock value within their lyrical content but they do this with a wicked Black Comedic edge that does bring some great laughs along the way. The music is impressive with certain moments reminding me of Faith No More and The Melvins. There’s intense heavy SLUDGE METAL grooves which can be quite distorted and overpowering at times, however the music sees Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol delivering their most muscular and riff-centric album to date.

Big Dumb Riffs is right up there with DOOM-WOP being Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol best release to date. If you want a record that doesn’t give a FUCK ABOUT with Progression and gets straight down in playing straight-forward and sometimes brutal grooves then Big Dumb Riffs is the album for you.

Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol impress yet again and they’re star shines even crazier and brighter with each passing release. Long may that continue.
